Well, you should try the following first:
1) Repair Disk Permissions:
OS 10.2.x: Run the Disk Utility (in the ./Applications/Utilities
folder). From the First Aid tab, click "Repair Disk Permissions".
OS 10.1.5: Run Repair Privileges (same folder, or download from
<a rel="nofollow" style='text-decoration: none;' href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900" target="_blank">http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900</a>
2) With all Office apps closed, move the Microsoft folder out of the
~:Library:Preferences folder and start XL. It will regenerate the
Office and XL preferences. Does the save work now? If so, move
preferences you want to keep (e.g., Word, Erage, Powerpoint) from
the original Microsoft folder into the new one.
3) If you do decide to delete and reinstall, make sure you run the
Remove Office application from your Install CD's Value Pack folder -
it's the best way of getting rid of *all* Office-related files. >> Stay informed about: Excel Keeps Crashing... Again!
